Apple has released the Safari 4 public beta for Mac and Windows.

OS X 10.5.6 Update Released

Apple has released the Mac OS X 10.5.6 Update. It is available via Software Update (under the Apple menu).

Apple releases new MacBooks and LED Cinema Display

Apple has released new 13-inch MacBook and 15-inch MacBook Pro systems, featuring a new one-piece aluminum chassis, LED-backlit displays, NVIDIA integrated graphics (“Hybrid SLI” graphics on the Pro) and a “buttonless” touchpad where the entire surface is a tactile button. The new MacBook starts at $1299 and the MacBook Pro at $1999. The previous-generation white MacBook is still available at a dropped price of $999.

The updated MacBook Air now has integrated NVIDIA graphics and a 120G hard drive (with optional 128G solid-state drive). Prices start at $1799.

Apple also released a new 24″ LED Cinema Display, with LED backlighting, a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels, built-in iSight camera and microphone, and a single cable to connect a system’s MagSafe, Mini Displayport, and USB 2.0 ports. It will retail for $899.

Apple has released Security Update 2008-007. It contains patches and bugfiles for Apache, root certificates, ClamAV, colorsync, CUPS, Finder, launchd, networking, and other applications.

QuickTime 7.5 released

Apple has released Quicktime 7.5, available via Software Update or Apple Downloads. This update addresses security and application compatibility issues.

Mac OS X 10.5.3 Update Released

Apple has released the Mac OS X 10.5.3 update, with too many fixes to list. It is available as a standalone download or via Software Update.

The second beta version of the iPhone SDK has been released and now includes Interface Builder.

MacBook and MacBook Pro Updated

Apple has released new models of the MacBook and MacBook Pro portable systems.

The new MacBook is available in three models including faster processors and larger hard drives; white 2.1 GHz and 2.4 GHz models with 120GB or 160GB 5400 rpm hard drives and a black 2.4 GHz model with a 250GB 5400 rpm hard drive. The 2.4 GHz MacBook models ship with 2GB of memory standard, with all models expandable to 4GB. Prices are unchanged, starting at $1099.

The new MacBook Pro has up to a 2.6Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB of shared L2 cache; up to 4GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory and up to a 300GB hard drive, plus NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics with up to 512MB of video memory. New hardware features including a trackpad with Multi-Touch gesture support, an illuminated keyboard, and an ambient light sensor. Prices start at $1999.
