Security Update 2004-10-27 is now available via Software Update. This update addresses potential security issues with Apple Remote Desktop.

iPod Updater 2004-10-20 is now available for download.

iPod Updater 2004-10-20 includes iPod Photo Software 1.0 for use with iPod Photo. iPod Updater 2004-10-20 also contains the same iPod software included in iPod Updater 2004-08-06 for all other iPod models.

Apple has released Quicktime 6.5.2 for Mac OS X.

QuickTime 6.5.2 is an important release which includes a security update and bug fixes. In addition this release includes enhancements in the Apple Lossless Encoder and AAC codecs, as well as improved support for iTunes and other QuickTime-based applications.

Apple has released the color-screen iPod Photo, capable of storing pictures along with music and displaying them on either its built-in color screen or a television set via an A/V cable. iTunes has been updated to version 4.7 with photo support, and the special edition U2 iPod comes in black with the band’s autographs engraved on the back.

PocketMac has released PocketMac for Blackberry, which lets you sync data between a Macintosh running OS X and a Blackberry handheld.

Sun’s Java Studio Creator has been updated with OS X support.

Apple has speed-bumped and price-reduced the iBook G4 series, starting with a 12″ 1.2Ghz model with integrated Airport Extreme, combo drive, and optional Bluetooth for $999, going all the way up to the 14″ 1.3Ghz model with SuperDrive for $1499.

A single-processor Power Mac G5 system is available once again, running at 1.8Ghz with a 600Mhz frontside bus (same as the iMac G5 series). This system starts at $1499 with 256M of memory, an 80G SATA hard drive, and 8X SuperDrive.

The Xserve RAID can now store up to 5.6TB of data in fourteen drives, starting at $5999.

Apple Remote Desktop has been updated to version 2.1 for the client and admin portions. Details of the numerous improvements can be found here.

Apple has released Java 1.4.2 Update 2. It provides improved behavior for applets in Safari, and increased stability for desktop Java applications. Java 1.4.2 Update 2 also includes all the improvements from Java 1.4.2 Update 1.

Apple has released Security Update 2004-09-30 via Software Update. This update delivers a number of security enhancements and is recommended for all Macintosh users. This update includes the following components: AFP Server, CUPS, NetInfoManager, Postfix, and QuickTime.
